This video belongs to the work Le Champignon Blanc, created at Le Citron Jaune in Port Saint-Louis-du-Rhône (FR). It originates from a live act that took place on October 4th, during which a group of visitors embarked on a journey toward a water tower resembling a mushroom, in an act of ephemeral care.
During the event, three symbols were introduced through analogue animation; this video presents their digital form. The animation transitions from the symbol of the Camargue (the region of Port Saint-Louis-du-Rhône), to the gypsy symbol of Sara la Noire (the patron saint of the region), and finally to the form of the water tower, Le Champignon Blanc.
These three elements and their stories are interwoven: the water tower becomes a marker, a destination for a procession, and a symbol of imagination—a mushroom standing as a guardian of passage, much like Sara la Noire. It connects the celestial and subterranean worlds and, through its mycelial network, has the ability to decompose the toxic molecules of invisible pollution produced by the surrounding industrial area. This pollution is found in the air, soil, and water. The elements are represented by the cross of the Camargue, whose three values (faith, hope, and charity) are reflected upon in the work.
On October 4th, a group of visitors gathered to present this land with their wishes for its future.
